This Week in Wilton Soccer!

We are in the heart of our fall season which means lots of league matches, exciting CT Cup play and fun and important varsity games with post season implications.

WSA Weekend Roundup

Our teams continued to make us proud in their efforts in the CT Cup. Our 2015 Boys will carry the flag into the elite 8 this coming weekend!

2015 Boys came out strong in their CT Cup match against Darien, scoring twice in the first ten minutes, a lead they maintained into the halftime break. Early in the second half, Darien pulled within a goal before Wilton extended its lead to 3-1 and shortly thereafter put the game out of reach with a fourth and fifth goal of their own. The scoring concluded at 5-1 pushing Wilton on into the Elite 8!

2014 Girls played some of their best and most inspiring soccer of the season and did everything right to earn the victory, except for scoring a game winner before running out of time. Very strong goalkeeping by Suffield kept them in the match despite a significant advantage in both shots and corner kicks for the Wilton girls. After grabbing a 1-0 lead late in the first half, Suffield scored the equalizer on goal that could not have been prevented off a 30 yards out shot. The game was eventually settled in penalty kicks where Suffield edged Wilton by just one kick.

2013 Boys ran into a strong Norwalk side, bowing out of this year’s Cup after a positive effort.

2011 Boys drove to Guilford for their next round match. Our Wilton boys conceded two goals on penalties but did their best to fight back for remainder of the game. In the end the Guilford lead proved too large and Wilton’s Cup run was thwarted.

2011 Girls played a talented Glastonbury side to a mostly even match, despite the final score not indicating that so much. The girls played level for most of the match and fought valiantly as a team.
