Important Info Ahead of the Fall 2025 Season
UPDATED August 22, 2025
Hi WSA families!
The fall 2025 soccer season is quickly approaching. Please read below IMPORTANT INFO carefully and in its entirety. Please take actions as noted.
WSA Code of Conduct: WSA has memorialized a Code of Conduct HERE. Your player's participation in the program binds your player, you and your family to this Code. There is a zero tolerance policy with respect to violations (click this link for more info). Please review and share with your player and all others who surround our fields and teams throughout the season. Violations are taken very seriously and repercussions include suspensions/bans (zero tolerance) from attending or participating in WSA events (practices/games) for meaningful periods of time or longer. Our commitment and respect for the game, our teams, our teammates and each other will make for the best possible experience for all.
Parent Zoom Meeting hosted by WSA in advance of season will be added to TeamSnap schedule.
Uniforms: All should have received an email from "MyUniform" /Soccer & Rugby a few weeks ago prompting you to place uniform order. Uniforms are new style and brand (Nike) vs. last year, so all players are to order a new kit. If you have not placed an order yet, please do so immediately as lead time is 2-3 weeks or more and first games are Labor Day tourney (Aug 30-31). Please be reminded that the Soccer & Rugby store has been relocated from Georgetown/Ridgefield to Southport/Westport (and they also have a store in Brookfield) if you need to buy new cleats or other gear. We advise you buy new cleats soon as inventory can get low this time of year.
TeamSnap mobile app
TeamSnap is the single source for all of the most important information for your team and where you should communicate (chat, email and post) with your coaches, managers and teammates.
TeamSnap will contain your team roster, season schedule and messaging features for the entire team to stay in sync.
Teams have been launched onto TeamSnap mobile app in - invite would have only gone to the parent email that was used to register for tryouts last spring — Update/re download the app as needed and update your player’s contact/profile information, add family members, etc.
If you can not find your team, please first check email addresses to ensure they match the one used to register for program, and then check with your spouse and ask them to check/add you to contact info for your player in the app
WSA and Team Managers will update schedules in TeamSnap throughout the season and use chat/email to communicate with you — chat messaging in the app is usually the most effective
First Practices / Practice Schedule: First practices are the week of August 25th. TeamSnap contains day/time/location for your team's practices each week. Please use “availability” feature in each event in the app to inform WSA, coaches and managers of your player’s attendance for each event.
Parents on Duty ("POD"): PODs attend duration of assigned practices to support coaches and/or players in event of emergency or other situation where another adult may be needed. Each player's family (one parent only needed) will have POD duties a couple of times during the season for their team. POD duties will be assigned by Team Managers in TeamSnap for each event - please check to see if you are on duty. If you can not serve as POD on your assigned day, please swap with a teammate as needed among yourselves. Every team, regardless of age of the team, must have a POD at every practice. Team Managers should organize PODs for each practice of the season.
Buses to practice:
Teams that practice at Ambler/Hurlbutt fields at times immediately after school can use buses from school.
You must indicate this in school dismissal manager.
We advise and WPS strongly prefer that WSA players DO NOT use the bus to Ambler until the week of Sept 8th… this is because:
Drivers and riders are familiarizing themselves with their primary routes, and as such
Buses run much more slowly in the first two weeks and therefore players will arrive too late / much after start of practice.
IMPORTANT: when players do take the bus to practice, teams must have an adult/POD to greet the buses at bottom of Ambler Field driveway (at Hurlbutt St). If an adult/POD not on site upon bus arrival, players will not be allowed off the bus and they will be returned to school.
Players should be able to arrive, get their socks, shin guards and cleats on themselves and assemble for their coaches. PODs should assist in this process in early season.
No trash should be left at the field… please make sure your players take any snack wrappers, water bottles or otherwise home when they leave!
Practices at Comstock for Cider Mill students:
Parents must indicate that players will go to Comstock for soccer in School Dismissal Manager
Children should walk up the hill to the field and be met by a POD who should be there before the dismissal bell
Players should get themselves ready for practice and assemble for coaches
Practice Attire: Players should wear WSA practice attire (avail in uniform shop) to all practices if they can. For all soccer events, all players will need a pumped-up soccer ball, shin guard under socks, soccer cleats and a water bottle. No shin guards, no play. Players are responsible for all of their gear.
Earrings / Jewelry: Earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets or any other jewelry are not permitted to be worn for practices or games. This is a FIFA/CJSA policy and coaches and referees are required to uphold it. Tape over earrings is also NOT a permitted solution. Earrings must be removed for play. Please refrain from getting ears pierced prior to the season as we know this can cause some challenges.
Team Managers Needed! All teams must have a volunteer parent team manager to run (ideally two per team). Team Managers coordinate game schedules, communicate with parents and coaches and ensure the team runs smoothly each season. If you were a prior manager, you have been automatically re-assigned to manage again (thanks!). New teams need a parent to step up to manage. Please email david.nuttall@wiltonsoccer.info if you are able to volunteer to manage your team. The following teams still need one or a supporting manager:
Girls 2017 Dash
Girls 2014 White
Girls 2016 Spirit
Boys 2017 Bayern
Boys 2016 Real
Tournaments: WSA teams will play a tournament on Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends.
Selected teams are playing in Labor Day tourney (this was based on responses to availability requested a number of weeks back); Labor Day tournament is John Jay Tournament in South Salem, NY. Boys teams will play Saturday, Aug 30. Girls teams will play Sunday, Aug 31. We will communicate the schedule for teams and players participating in next few days.
All should plan to participate in Columbus Day tournament.
League Game Schedules: first league games are Sun, Sept 7th and continue through early November. Dates/opponents/home or away info wont be available from our league a few weeks before the season. Game times and fields are confirmed weekly by your team Managers and WSA. You can count on a game each Sunday between 12 noon and 6 PM. WSA players are expected to prioritize practices and games as their primary sport in the fall season. Any anticipated conflicts should be communicated to your team Manager early and often.
CT Cup: Selected U11 - U15 teams will be entered into the CT Cup this fall season. CT Cup is not offered for U9-10 teams. WSA only enters teams where we believe participation will be a good experience for the team. The CT Cup is a state wide bracket style tournament (single elimination) leading to an eventual “State Champion” for each age group. Competition is strong and distance to games can be far (matches based on random draw). All CT Cup games must be played on Saturdays, with first round in mid/late Sept and finals in November. This is an exciting opportunity for participating teams and it is expected that these games will be prioritized for benefit of the team.
Field Set Up Day (Sat, Aug 23): Volunteers are needed to assist in field set up for the season (moving goals into place, securing nets and sandbags, etc). Field Set Up Day will be Sat, Aug 23 from 9-10AM. Please sign up to help HERE!
If you have questions on any of the above, please email Coach Dave at david.nuttall@wiltonsoccer.info.
Thank you! WSA Team
