Columbus Tournament Weekend!
WSA teams will be participating in the Ridgefield SCOR Columbus Day Tournament this weekend in Ridgefield, CT. Below is everything you need to know.
Participating Teams/Rosters:
Click this LINK to see the teams (tab 1 / “Entries”) and the specific players that will be participating on the combined teams for the event (tab 2 / “Rosters”)
Only the specific players listed on the combined teams in tab 2 of sheet may participate in the event this weekend - this was based on RSVPs received by deadline as requested
If your player’s primary team is NOT participating and your player’s name is NOT on the sheet as part of a combined team, they unfortunately cannot attend
If your player was signed up to participate, but can no longer attend, please let your Team Manager know ASAP as there may be another player who would like to play
Tournament Details:
Girls play Saturday 10/11 and Boys play Sunday 10/12
Schedule (select age group, bracket and then your team)
Fields map
All players must bring Blue and White uniforms
Teams should wear pink socks unless they choose otherwise as a team
As is case for all games, NO jewelry or earrings are allowed, tape over earrings is also not allowed (they must be removed for play)
WSA Tents and Snacks:
WSA managers will set up “home bases” for Wilton teams using the WSA tents available for use in logical locations
Snacks are welcome, but please be attentive to what players consume before and after games, and always
Please be mindful of any allergies (WSA is not responsible for what others bring or consume), and limit too many sweets before play
Tournament Reminders:
Arrive at field 20-30 mins before start time for each game
Find your coach or manager and find an area to warmup near the field you are playing at - note coaches may be running from game to game, so parent support on getting teams prepared to play and possibly for light warmups is appreciated
Remind yourselves of our Code of Conduct and represent our Town, our teams and our program in a manner we can all be proud of
Celebrate the positive and avoid any negatives; cheer for the team and support our coaches; resist the urge to address or criticize referees or players or anyone else for any reason
Tournament competition varies widely - our own teams and others are participating on a combined basis and alignment of divisions can simply never be perfectly level - it’s likely we win a few, lose a few, win a couple by a lot and lose a few more by many… it’s all part of the experience, roll with it
Coaches will do best to rotate players in and out and it’s likely players will sample different positions on the field at this event
Thanks for your support, have a blast!
